About Us
Our Story
Founder, Daniel Hanley, and his son, Sean Hanley
Hanley Law has always been a family affair.
Hanley Law was established in San Jose, California over 50 years ago by Daniel Hanley, an attorney and real estate broker who specialized in a myriad of practice areas during his career. The firm has been a family venture from the beginning, with Sean and his brother Brian, now both lawyers, gaining valuable experience from the mentorship of their father since their youth.
Hanley Law has represented families for generations. Sean now proudly represents Dan’s former clients, many of whom met and worked with Sean before he became an attorney. Sean continues to provide service to generations and now works with many of those clients’ adult children and heirs.
Early in the firm’s existence, Hanley Law handled all legal matters under the sun. As the rewards of assisting individuals and their families became more apparent, the practice gradually concentrated its focus on estate planning. By the time Sean joined the firm as an Attorney in 2007, estate planning, trust administration, probate and small business representation were at the core of the Hanley Law firm and continues to be the firm’s areas of focus.
We’ve watched our clients and their families move throughout the Bay Area and all over California. As they’ve shared our good reputation, our clientele and their family and loved ones developed a deep trust with us. Guided by the mantra that clients’ needs always come first, we made upgrades to our offices and implemented advanced digital tools for scheduling, meeting, and education - all intended to make our interaction with all of our clients more accessible, enjoyable and as stress-free as possible.
With these enhancements in place, Hanley Law has been able to expand its service areas to cover all service locations in California. To continue to be accessible as possible in providing the personalized-responsive service we’re known for, we’ve expanded our footprint and established an additional office location in Southern California’s San Diego.
